• New energy efficient 'A' rated boilers installed at a cost of £40,000.
• New energy efficient lighting installed inside bedrooms at a cost of £10,000.
• New energy efficient Lighting installed outside at a cost of £20,000.
• Glass is recycled by a local company in Sunderland.
• Televisions are turned off rather than being put on standby.
• Bed linen and towels policy in place to reduce linen consumption.
• Old function chairs donated to a local Church in Darlington.
• Waste paper is recycled and collected by Northeast Air Ambulance.
• We operate an access for all policy which includes designated car parking spaces, WC, accessible bedrooms, guide dogs welcome, conference and banqueting facilities on ground floor, all restaurants and bars are on the ground floor.
• We have raised £300 for the Northeast Air Ambulance by hosting a Car boot sale.
• We have donated £150 to Darlington College to fund the purchase of Chef's uniform for Junior Master Chef.
• We advertise in the Heighington Church magazine.
• We favour suppliers who adhere to recycling.
• We always source food locally, including meat, fish, eggs, local organic milk and vegetables.
• We have time controlled heating and lighting.
• Energy saving key cards are used to activate electricity in west wing bedrooms.
• We have thermostatically controlled radiators in all bedrooms.
• We buy Organic Milk from Acorn dairy which is 2 miles away!
• We buy Meat sourced from Northeast Farmers.
• Bird boxes have been installed which were made by High Coniscliffe Primary school.
